Luxury Safari Weddings & Events in the Serengeti

Endless golden plains, acacia silhouettes and the raw majesty of the African wild — a Serengeti wedding is the ultimate bucket-list celebration.

As a safari wedding planner in the Serengeti, we design celebrations in the bush — and not only weddings.

Kevins Events designs and produces luxury safari weddings and private celebrations across the Serengeti and northern Tanzania. As Tanzania's leading luxury event designer, we bring full design and production capability to even the most remote camps — sundowner ceremonies against an open horizon, bush dinners beneath a canopy of stars, and intimate gatherings at the region's most exclusive tented camps and lodges. Every celebration is designed to honour the landscape rather than compete with it.

Why the Serengeti

There is no backdrop like it. Vows exchanged as the light drops across the plains, a reception under a sky with no light pollution, and a guest experience that is a genuine once-in-a-lifetime journey rather than a weekend away. For couples travelling from Europe, North America, the Middle East or West Africa, a Serengeti wedding is also easily paired with a Zanzibar beach celebration or honeymoon — the two sit within one country and one trip.

Where to marry in the Serengeti

Settings range from private tented camps and luxury safari lodges to bespoke sites in the bush — a clearing beneath an ancient tree, a kopje overlooking the plains, or a riverbank at golden hour. Guest numbers are usually smaller than a city wedding: many Serengeti celebrations are elopements or intimate gatherings of 10 to 50, though larger celebrations are possible with the right camp and the right planning. Neighbouring Ngorongoro, Tarangire and the Arusha region offer further options and are often combined into a single itinerary.

Remote does not mean compromised

A Serengeti celebration is above all a feat of logistics, and this is where experience matters more than anywhere else we work. Park permits and access, light-aircraft transfers and ground transport, décor and florals brought in and built on site, lighting, staging, catering coordination, and full on-the-ground execution — all of it has to be planned to the hour, because there is no supplier down the road. Our team manages the entire operation so that you and your guests experience only the magic of the moment.

Costs and park fees: what to expect

A Serengeti wedding carries costs that a city wedding does not. National park entry fees apply per person per day, and some camps and lodges charge additional event or exclusivity fees. Add light-aircraft transfers, accommodation for you and your guests, and the freight of bringing design elements into the park, and a safari celebration is a genuine investment — commonly a materially higher spend than an equivalent celebration in Dar es Salaam.

We do not sell packages. Our celebrations begin from around 15 million TZS (just under USD 6,000), and a Serengeti wedding typically sits well above that once park fees, transfers and production are accounted for. What we do offer is a completely transparent picture of where the money goes, presented at consultation.

Legal requirements and timing

International couples can marry legally in Tanzania, but the process has real timelines and paperwork, and it must be started early. Many couples choose to complete the legal marriage at home and hold their Serengeti ceremony as a symbolic one — it removes all paperwork risk from an already complex logistical undertaking. We are glad to plan it either way and will advise honestly on which is right for you.

The dry season, June to October, offers the best weather, the most active wildlife and the extraordinary golden light the Serengeti is known for — and it overlaps with the Great Migration. It is also when the best camps sell out first. For a Serengeti wedding in high season we recommend booking as far ahead as you possibly can; 12 months is not excessive.

Designed around the wild

The most memorable safari weddings are built on meticulous planning and a light, respectful touch — leaving nothing behind, and letting the landscape do what no ballroom can. When logistics, design and guest experience are considered as one, the Serengeti becomes a backdrop like nowhere else on earth: elegant, atmospheric and deeply personal.

Beyond weddings: milestone birthdays, anniversaries and corporate safaris

Kevins Events is a full-service event planner in the Serengeti, not only a wedding planner. We design and produce milestone birthday celebrations, landmark anniversaries, proposals, family gatherings, corporate retreats and executive incentive safaris across the Serengeti and northern Tanzania. A significant birthday spent in a private camp under the stars is one of the most extraordinary gifts a family can give — and it is planned with exactly the same rigour as a wedding.

Whether you need a wedding planner, a birthday planner or a party planner for a Serengeti celebration, one team handles design, permits, transfers, production and on-the-ground execution end to end.

Serengeti Wedding FAQs

Can you get married in the Serengeti?

Yes. Couples can hold ceremonies at private tented camps, safari lodges or bespoke bush sites within the Serengeti and neighbouring conservation areas, subject to park permissions and the camp's own rules. International couples can marry legally in Tanzania, though many choose to marry legally at home and hold a symbolic ceremony in the bush.

How much does a Serengeti safari wedding cost?

More than an equivalent city wedding, because of national park entry fees charged per person per day, possible lodge event fees, light-aircraft transfers, guest accommodation, and the freight of bringing design and production into the park. Our celebrations begin from around 15 million TZS (just under USD 6,000) and a Serengeti wedding typically sits well above that. We present a fully transparent breakdown at consultation.

When is the best time for a Serengeti wedding?

The dry season, June to October, offers the best weather, the strongest wildlife viewing and the famous golden light, and overlaps with the Great Migration. It is also the busiest period, so the best camps book out far in advance.

How many guests can attend a Serengeti wedding?

Most Serengeti celebrations are intimate — elopements or gatherings of roughly 10 to 50 guests — because camp capacity and park logistics set natural limits. Larger celebrations are possible with the right camp and sufficient lead time.

How far in advance should we book a Serengeti wedding?

As early as you can. We recommend 3 to 12 months as a general rule, but for a high-season Serengeti celebration (June–October) 12 months is sensible, as the best camps and lodges are reserved well ahead.

Do you plan birthdays and private celebrations in the Serengeti, or only weddings?

Both. As well as safari weddings we plan milestone birthday celebrations, anniversaries, proposals, family gatherings and corporate incentive safaris across the Serengeti and northern Tanzania.

Are you a wedding planner or an event planner?

Both. We are a luxury wedding planner and a full-service event planner, and we bring the same design and production standard to a bush birthday as to a safari wedding.
